![]() The over-popularity of Centurion Lounges was not just exclusive to the San Francisco location, although it saw some of the highest demand among the AMEX network of lounges. AMEX eliminated $50 day passes for non-Platinum cardholders. Overcrowding became such an issue that American Express began enforcing time limits at the lounge with most cardholders only allowed in within three hours of a departing flight, and limiting the number of guests a member could bring in with them. At peak times, there was frequently a line out the door to get in, and no where to sit once you entered. The lounge was a huge hit before COVID-19 crushed air travel demand. to 12:30 a.m.The current lounge space (which cost $12 million to build in 2014) will expand into an adjacent area located in the terminal’s mezzanine level that’s currently being used as airport offices and storage space.
